Mrs. Gouthro's Grade Primary class at Walter Duggan Consolidated is buzzing with excitement from the new beebots sent to schools this year!

The students have quickly mastered the art of coding with the bees. Students are able to program the bees to travel to letters, numbers or shapes that they have selected from a cloth bag. The Primary team has also made new mats with extra supplies that was sent with the new material to include words and mazes!

Students and staff at Cobequid Consolidated Elementary School participated in “Light It Up Blue Day” on March 31st!

Everyone came to school wearing blue and participated in a discussion about Autism to help increase awareness and education. The students created a light bulb craft to display, and shared poems, songs and other activities around Autism awareness. Students learned that we are all unique, and also the same.

Students, teachers and staff from the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board (CCRSB) will Rally Against Racism on Thursday, May 25. More than 1,000 students will lead a march from Cobequid Educational Centre (CEC) to Victoria Park, Truro, starting at 9:30 a.m.

A couple of weeks ago we presented a list of books that make great summer reading material for junior and high school students.

This week we turn our attention to fantastic summer reads for elementary school students. We’ve included some classics and newer material. Hopefully they become part of an enjoyable summer for our elementary students!
