Standing Committee Terms of Reference

Education Services Committee

The Education Services Committee will:

  1. Become familiar with policy issues related to Education Services within the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board system.
  2. Consider and recommend policy on matters pertaining to Education Services within the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board.
  3. Receive and review program related information / recommendations and advise the Board of any such information / recommendations which might be pertinent to the efficient and effective operation of the school system.
  4. Oversee research, implementation and evaluation of curricula, programs and student services within the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board jurisdiction.
  5. Oversee the development of annual Education Services Department priorities as they relate to the Annual Business Plan prepared for the Department of Education.
  6. Participate in the development and evaluation of a strategic plan for the Chignecto-Central Regional school system.
  7. Liaise with School Advisory Councils and oversee the development of school-based School Improvement Plans.
  8. Oversee the development and annual updating of a comprehensive technology plan for the region.
  9. Deal with other matters as the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board may assign, from time to time.
  10. Oversee the development and implementation of Board policy in relation to student discipline.

Financial Services Committee

 

The Financial Services Committee Will:

  1. Become familiar with policy issues related to the finances of the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board. 
  2. Consider and recommend policy on matters pertaining to the finances of the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board. 
  3. Receive and review financial information/recommendations and advise the Board of any such information/recommendations which might be pertinent to the efficient and effective operation of the school system.
  4. Oversee the development of an effective Financial Management System in the Chignecto-Central Regional school system.
  5. Oversee the development of annual Financial Services Department reports to the Department of Education.
  6. Oversee the development of an annual business plan (budget) and recommend said plan to the Board.
  7. Participate in the development and evaluation of a strategic plan for the Chignecto-Central Regional school system.
  8. Deal with other matters as the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board may assign, from time to time.
  9. Provide support to the Audit Committee.

Human Resources Services Committee

 

The Human Resources Services Committee Will:

  1. Become familiar with policy issues related to the Human Resources Services Department of the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board.
  2. Consider and recommend policy on matters pertaining to Human Resources Services Department of the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board.
  3. Receive and review human resources related information/ recommendations and advise the Board of any such information/recommendations which might be pertinent to the efficient and effective operation of the school system.
  4. Oversee the development of an effective Human Resources Management System in the Chignecto-Central Regional school system.
  5. Oversee the development of any annual Human Resources reports required by the Department of Education.
  6. Oversee the development of that portion of the annual business plan (including budget) relevant to Human Resources and recommend said plans to the Financial Services Committee and the Board.
  7. Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of that portion of the strategic plan pertinent to Human Resources Services.
  8. Receive and review information/recommendations and advise the Board of any such information/recommendations pertinent to the Employment Equity Committee and/or Employment Equity matters.
  9. Deal with other matters as the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board may assign, from time to time.

Operational Services Committee

 

The Operational Services Committee Will:

  1. Become familiar with policy issues related to student conveyance, property services, and health and safety within the Operational Services Department of the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board. 
  2. Consider and recommend policy on matters pertaining to student conveyance, property services, and health and safety within the Operational Services Department of the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board. 
  3. Receive and review student conveyance, property services, and health and safety  information/recommendations and advise the Board of any such information/ recommendations which might be pertinent to the efficient and effective operation of the school system. 
  4. Oversee the transportation of pupils, the maintenance and custodial services of Board-owned facilities, equipment and vehicles. 
  5. Oversee Board responsibility for ensuring the health and safety of all persons using and/or employed in the facilities, vehicles and/or using equipment owned or operated by the Board. 
  6. Oversee the development of any annual student conveyance, property services capital construction, and health and safety reports required by the Board, the Department of Education, and any other agencies. 
  7. Oversee, on behalf of the Board, the planning and construction of capital projects. 
  8. Oversee the development of that portion of the annual business plan (including budget) relevant to Operational Services and recommend said plans to the Financial Services Committee and the Board.
  9. Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of that portion of the strategic plan pertinent to Operational Services.
  10. Deal with other matters as the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board may assign, from time to time.
