Historica Fair

Formerly called Heritage Fair, the Histor!ca Fair is sponsored by the Historica Society of Canada.
Since its inception, our students have been provincial leaders in terms of both winning and overall participation; and in many years, our students have also been national leaders.

The Histor!ca Fair is a vibrant community celebration in which students have the opportunity to showcase their heritage projects including displays, demonstrations, entertainment, and workshops. Approximately 200 projects will be on display throughout the day. The projects will feature historical/cultural topics that relate to the foundation of many of our communities. With the diverse historical landscape of Nova Scotia, the projects are bound to teach all visitors a lot about their province and its communities. Also, many community members will be hosting assemblies for students throughout the day to teach about various aspects of local heritage and culture.

Histor!ca Fair provides an opportunity for students from grades four to nine to produce history projects which reflect Canada’s history and culture from the child’s perspective. The projects are presented to the public in several ways: regional competition (our Truro Fair, for example), and winners present nationally.

The Histor!ca Fairs program is a national initiative of the Histor!ca Foundation of Canada with the local fair supported by the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board, the RBC Foundation, the Hudson’s Bay Company (Zellers), CN, and the Government of Canada.
