Winding River Consolidated School honoured by the Family Channel
Winding River Consolidated (WRC) recently filmed footage for their national TV debut! WRC was selected from hundreds of schools in a national contest to be featured on the Family Channel thanks to their efforts to conquer bullying and create a positive school climate.
In their contest application, WRC highlighted the ways they promote a peaceful school climate and remind students that a peaceful school has no room for bullying. Some activities the school has implemented are: Peace Keeper medals, wearing pink as a symbol of anti-bullying, participating in Stand. Up. Speak Out. Stop Bullying Together. on September 18th, producing a “We are not afraid” video this fall, and producing a weekly news broadcast that fosters a peaceful climate.
WRC was acknowledged at a rally that was hosted by Alexandra Beaton and Jennie Pappas, aka Emily and Chloe from the Family Channel’s hit series The Next Step. Footage from the rally will be featured in a short documentary to air on the Family Channel and family.ca as part of Bullying Awareness Week November 17 to 23.
