Students and staff at Bible Hill Junior High recently spent time exploring culture and community through “What’s Your Story?” day. The goal of the day was to promote and advance cultural awareness and appreciation within the school and within the community. The day started with a key note address from Patsy Paul-Martin, the coordinator of First Nations Cultural Services for CCRSB. A smudging ceremony was performed and then students broke out into variety of sessions offered at the school and in the community. The day went beyond looking at Mi’kmaq and African-Nova Scotia culture to investigate the voices in our community through conversation, craft making, dance, cooking, and so much more. Presentations were put on by current students, former students and members of the community.
