Trenton Middle School Celebrates National Aboriginal History Month
Students, teachers and staff from Trenton Middle School celebrated National Aboriginal History Month on Monday, June 1with their third annual Mawi'omi.
An afternoon of drumming and dance kicked off the celebration, and was enjoyed by everyone on hand. Students from Trenton Elementary (Grades 3 and 4) and Pictou Landing First Nation School (Grades 5 and 6) also took in the festivities.
A number of special guests were welcomed by Trenton Middle School for the event, including Andrea Paul, Chief of Pictou Landing First Nation; Gary Adams, Superintendent and CEO of the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board (CCRSB); Marilyn Murray, a governing member of the CCRSB; and Patsy Paul-Martin, Coordinator of First Nations Cultural Services, CCRSB. National Aboriginal History Month is celebrated across Canada each June since 2009.
