South Colchester Awarded $20,000 as finalist in Samsung Challenge!

Vote for SCA until April 18th to help them win $50k!

A student-created video focused on ways to prevent a nearby river from flooding South Colchester Academy’s soccer pitch has led to an award of $20,000 in Samsung classroom technology, and a chance at winning a Grand Prize of $50,000!

SCA students and staff were thrilled to be one of 11 national finalists in Samsung’s first ever Solve for Tomorrow Challenge. Samsung invited schools across the country to submit innovative videos using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)-inspired community solutions. Using a Samsung camera and tablet, students recorded their video and investigated the best means to keep the the nearby river bewteen its banks. 

The only school in Nova Scotia to be selected as a semi-finalit, the students and staff of SCA are looking forward to the final phase of the contest that has them in the running for two grand prize opportunities: an additional $50,000 in Samsung technolog, and an exciting STEM experience at their school.
