Potential Job Action by the Nova Scotia Teachers Union (NSTU)

Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Karen Casey asked the Conciliation Officer to bring together the provincial and Nova Scotia Teachers Union (NSTU) bargaining teams in the hopes of reaching a resolution. The NSTU accepted the invitation. Meetings are expected to start next week.

As of now, the NSTU is in a position to take job action on December 5. The union is required to give the Department of Labor and Advanced Education 48 hours’ notice before any job action can occur. As of today, November 18, they have not taken this step.

The department along with school boards are preparing should the NSTU choose job action. As the situation evolves, updates will be available to you through your school board’s website and the department’s website at www.ednet.ns.ca and on Twitter @nseducation.
