In September 2016, Safety Services Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia School Boards Association launched their annual school bus safety campaign. The challenge? Students in elementary, junior high, and high school, had to create a video that highlighted school bus safety and what it means to them. CCRSB would like to congratulate Caelan Shaw, a grade eight student from Bible Hill Junior High, for her winning video!

Caelan’s winning entry showed what happens when drivers fail to stop for school busses. Her stop-motion video also featured the dangers of texting and driving. Caelan’s submission was reviewed by a panel of judges, and considered the best in Nova Scotia for the junior high category.

Caelan and her fellow recipients attended a celebration event on December 21, 2016. At the event, her winning video was screened for everyone in attendance and she was presented with a $500 cheque. Way to go, Caelan!
