Announcing the Top 10 books for the 2016 CCRSB Teen Reader’s Choice Award!
CCRSB's Teen Reader’s Choice Award is back for its fifth year! The award program, facilitated by CCRSB Library Services, invites students in grades 7 to 12 to read at least one book from the Top 10 and then to vote for their favourite to be crowned the winner.
“The Teen Reader’s Choice Award program encourages students to recognize and read quality literature,” says Jolene Shaw, CCRSB Library Services Manager. “By allowing students to select the winner, they are encouraged to not only ready more, but also discuss the books they are reading and voice their opinions.”
The 2016 Top 10 books are:
- All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
- Belzhar by Meg Wolitzer
- The Crossover by Kwame Alexander
- Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
- Greenglass House by Kate Milford
- The Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson
- A Mad, Wicked Folly by Sharon Biggs Waller
- Nimona by Noella Stevenson
- The Thing About Jellyfish by Ali Benjamin
- We Should Hang Out Sometime: Embarrassingly, a True Story by Josh Sundquist
Students are encouraged to read one or more of the Top 10 books between March 8th and May 16th, and to discuss the book(s) in school and online at http://ccrsbteenchoice.wordpress.com.
Students will be able to vote for their favourite Top 10 book from May 16th until May 20th. The 2016 CCRSB Teen Reader’s Choice Award winning book will be announced on May 31st with a series of in-school awards ceremonies that week.
The CCRSB Teen Reader’s Choice Award program celebrates reading for pleasure and encourages students to have conversations about books and reading.
