Hants North Rural High (HNRH) Grade 12 student, Tessa Burns, wanted to make a difference in the lives of homeless youths. That's why she started the Teens for Jeans campaign at her school.

On any given night approximately 65 000 young people are homeless in Canada, and about one in three of these people are between the ages of 16 and 24. One of the most requested items among these homeless youth is a simple pair of jeans. The Teens for Jeans campaign, a joint project of DoSomethingCanada and clothing retailer Aeropostale, is helping to meet these requests by collecting gently used jeans for homeless youth in Canada.

Tessa brought Teens for Jeans to the HNRH “We Act” committee and together put out the challenge for students to clean out their closets and donate jeans for homeless teens. In just three weeks, 222 pairs for jeans were collected. Way to go HNRH!!
