  • Bus #100, driven by Linda Hansen, will be 20-30 minutes late taking students home from Harmony Heights Elementary today.

Parents, guardians and students are advised that due to a structure fire in the community of Plymouth, buses that normally travel through the community are being re-routed. This means that busing for some students at Dr. WA MacLeod Consolidated, East Pictou Middle School, Frank H. MacDonald and North Nova Education Centre will be delayed by 10-40 minutes.

Parents, guardians and community members are advised that the telephone system at Dr. WA MacLeod Consolidated School is undergoing maintenance today. As a result, the phones will be turned on and off randomly throughout the day. If you need to contact the school you may phone, but it could take some time to get through. Alternatively, you may send an email to macleanm@ccrsb.ca

Classes for students at Hants North and Kennetcook District will go ahead as normal tomorrow, March 23rd.

The area around the fire site, at the back of the high school wing, will be off-limits to students and staff. As such, there will be no parking around the back side of the school. Students who can take the bus are encouraged to do so, all others who normally take their own vehicles are asked to carpool where possible.

If the situation changes, the decision will be communicated in the early morning via local media, using this website, Facebook and Twitter.

Parents and guardians are advised that the students and staff from Hants North and Kennetcook District School are now being evacuated to the Kennetcook Fire Hall in the village behind the home hardware. Students will be transported by bus to the fire hall. Buses will then take students home following the normal end of day busing times and drop-off locations. Parents and guardians are asked not to go the fire hall, but to follow the normal dismissal procedures.

Parents, guardians and community members are advised that the bus garage adjacent to Hants North Rural High/Kennetcook District School is on fire.

Police and local fire service are responding. Students were evacuated from the schools as a precaution, however the fire department has determined that it is safe for students and staff to return to the elementary portion of the school at this time.  All students and staff are safe.

Parents/guardians of students attending Elmsdale District Elementary, Enfield District Elementary, Maple Ridge Elementary, Hants East Rural High and Riverside Education Centre are advised that some students may be delayed arriving home this afternoon. The potential delays are a result of current and expected localized flood conditions that will cause roads to be closed and bus routes to be detoured. The usual dismissal time is in place for all schools.

Oxford Regional Educational Centre is closing for the day due to localized flooding. As the morning bus run has already begun, buses will continue to pick students up and take them to the school. Once all of the buses have arrived, school staff will contact elementary school parents before the buses begin returning students. Questions may be directed to the Chignecto Family of Schools Office at 902-597-4207.
