Report card changes: Information for parents, guardians and students

CCRSB News - November 20, 2014 - Report card season is upon us! Throughout this month, students across CCRSB will be receiving their first report cards of the year. With that in mind, CCRSB wants to ensure that everyone is aware of the changes that have been made to the way report cards are written. (The changes were first announced by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development in August 2014).

Strengthening our Learning Community

I am pleased to present the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board’s (CCRSB) 2013-2014 Annual Report. I consider this my report to all members of CCRSB’s Community, from parents and guardians to staff and elected board members.
 
In the pages of my report you will find an accounting of some of the many activities, programs and actions completed by CCRSB staff in the last year, all with a focus on increasing student learning and creating positive, safe and socially-just learning environments.

Construction on new West Highlands Elementary delayed; completion and opening dates pushed back

CCRSB News - November 19, 2014 - CCRSB has been informed by the province that construction of the new West Highlands Elementary school is continuing to take longer than initially scheduled. The school will not be completed in time for the intended January 2015 opening. The completion date is tentatively planned to allow for opening in March 2015; however, the province is still waiting on a final completion date from the contractors.

Students at Valley Elementary School receive an art lesson from a special guest

CCRSB News – November 18, 2014 – On November 6th students and staff at Valley Elementary School received a visit from special guest Leonard Paul, a First Nations Mi’kmaq visual artist. Leonard shared some of his work with the students, along with how he began his painting career.

CCRSB students to explore careers in skilled trades and technologies

CCRSB News - November 18, 2014 - Students from CCRSB will be attending TechShop, presented by Skills Canada - Nova Scotia (SCNS) on Wednesday, November 19, at the NSCC Pictou Campus in Stellarton.

TechShop is a one-day event that offers high school students the opportunity to explore skilled trade and technology career options by participating in hands-on workshops and mentor discussion.

"We present information on skilled trade and technology careers, career training, and potential wage earnings in a fun and interactive way," said Robin Lorway, Acting Executive Director of SCNS.
